where does FMC take place? what are the classrooms and dorms like? who are our directors, teaching staff and dorm counselors? how is music part of the FMC experience? how is Quakerism part of the FMC experience? what is there to do for fun at FMC? (besides music, of course!)
Friends Music Camp

About Friends Music Camp "FMC is ultimately cool and potentially life-changing." Campers at FMC are young people who wish to pursue musical excellence while participating in a caring community. They come with a variety of musical experience: some advanced, others near-beginners – all committed to work hard on their music and treasured for what they have to share and their capacity to learn and grow in new ways. Enrollment is open to young people age 10 to 18 of any race or religion, who have had at least one year of lessons on their chosen instrument. The number of Quaker campers has ranged from 50-85%. In recent years, campers have come from about 20 states and several foreign countries.
FMC isn't just about music -- it's also about summer camp friends and fun. Please use the links at the left to learn about our facilities (including our wonderful host, Olney Friends School), staff, and daily activities at FMC. Friends Music Camp was started in 1980 by friends (and Friends) Peg Champney and Jean Putnam; seventeen campers attended the first session. Since that time, we have grown a lot -- currently, 75 campers and 25 staff people attend each summer. Peg Champney is now one of our co-directors, along with former camper Drea (Pedisich) Gallaga and piano teacher Nicholas Hutchinson.
