Friends Music Camp

Although the focus at FMC is music, there are many other typical "camp" things to do as well. Evening programs that are not recitals are often games like soccer or capture the flag, or are special speakers, often on peace and justice issues. Camp includes several special recreational trips, including a trip to a water park in nearby Wheeling and the yearly canoe trip on the Tuscaroras River. At the end of the second week, we have a celebratory feast and campfire to honor our two-weekers on their last day of camp. The feast is planned and cooked by a committee of campers and staff, and it often has a theme. This is a wonderful time to reflect on camp experiences and enjoy wonderful food and fellowship.
In addition to recreational activities, all campers participate in the community life in two major housekeeing areas: dish crew and big cleanup. These times of service to FMC and to Olney can also be fun bonding times for campers and staff, and they are important aspects of our community life.
